10+ YEARS CRIMINAL LAW PRACTICE,
THOUSANDS OF CASES HANDLED
SUCCESSFULLY
As a San Diego Criminal Defense Attorney, I understand how being charged with crimes such as Attempted Murder, Child Molestation, Commercial Burglary, Domestic Violence, Drug Offenses (including Possession, Transportation, and Sales), DUI, Hit and Run, Juvenile Offenses, Mayhem, Public Intoxication, Public Urination, Resisting Arrest, Shoplifting, Solicitation of Prostitution, or Tampering with a Vehicle can disrupt lives, jeopardize employment, and tear families apart.
I recognize that convictions for state offenses can have severe consequences, including time in jail or prison, deportation, denial of loans, eviction, public humiliation, revocation or suspension of professional licenses, and even divorce.
I know how stressful it can be charged with any of the above crimes, and the need to act quickly, especially if you are facing a bench warrant or being held in custody for extradition to another state. My priority is to provide compassionate, effective legal representation to protect your rights and work toward the best possible outcome for your case.
If you, a friend or family member have been arrested, contacting a private attorney can be the crucial first step to achieving a positive outcome. Discussing your case with me will help you better understand the potential defenses available and the consequences you might face. I’ll explain the general sequence of events in a criminal case, so you know what to expect and when.
If anyone is being held in custody, I often visit clients in jail to discuss their case in person. I can then argue for that person to be released on their own recognizance (“OR”) or, if necessary, for a reduction in bail, highlighting alternative, non-monetary methods to ensure public safety.
When you hire a private attorney, you receive personalized attention, thorough investigation of your case, and strategic advocacy tailored to your unique circumstances. Your future is too important to leave to chance—let’s work together to protect it.
When appropriate, I work to resolve misdemeanor cases through the California Penal Code § 1001.1 diversion program. This law allows for the postponement of prosecution—temporarily or permanently—at any stage of the judicial process, from the filing of charges to adjudication.
I also explore specialized diversion programs for eligible clients, including options for military veterans under Penal Code § 1001.80 and individuals with mental health conditions under Penal Code § 1001.36. Additional programs, such as the Bad Check Diversion Program and Parental Diversion Program, may also provide opportunities to avoid a conviction depending on the circumstances.
I handle a wide range of legal matters, including misdemeanor and felony cases, civil restraining orders, juvenile matters, and DMV hearings. I regularly file motions to modify or terminate probation early, which can pave the way for expungement under Penal Code § 1203.4. I also assist with petitions to seal arrest records and court files (Penal Code §§ 851.91 and 851.92), motions for factual innocence (Penal Code § 851.8), and applications for Certificates of Rehabilitation.
In addition, I help clients with reclassification of felonies to misdemeanors under Penal Code § 17(b) and through Propositions 64 and 47. I frequently file motions to vacate convictions under Penal Code § 1473.7, particularly when a client was not properly informed of the immigration consequences of a plea.
My approach is defined by dedication, skill, and compassion. Whether securing dismissals, achieving pre-filing diversions, or reducing charges, I am committed to protecting my clients’ rights and pursuing the best possible outcomes with urgency and care.
I frequently appear at courts throughout the San Diego area, including the San Diego Superior Court, North County Regional Center in Vista, East County Regional Center in El Cajon, South County Regional Center in Chula Vista, and Central Division Downtown. I also handle cases in neighboring counties such as Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Imperial, as well as U.S. District Court (federal court).
No matter where your case is being heard, I am here to help you navigate the legal process and protect your rights.
